0 What influences exchange rate fluctuations?

I have noticed that in the last year the pound has got steadily weaker and weaker compared to the US$ and the Euro. 12 Months ago I could have gotten $2.00 or 1.40€ to the pound; now I will struggle to get $1.50 and 1.15€. Why is this?
